Waverly Heights begins renovations to expand personal care and memory support services – Mainline Media News

LOWER MERION – Renovations are underway at the Waverly Heights Life Plan community in Gladwyne as the retirement community seeks to expand its availability of personal care and memory support.

The construction of its health care center aims to resize and position the accommodations within the building to meet the demands of an industry shift from skilled nursing to personal care.

In February, Waverly Memory Support Rooms moved to new premises on the first floor of the Health Care Center, where skilled nursing rooms had already been reduced. Memory support suites that were freed up in this process are refitted into new personal care suites.

Windsor at Waverly Heights is a licensed personal care home that promotes independence and choice by providing just the right amount of support needed to cultivate and maintain a healthy lifestyle. This environment allows people who need help with daily care to continue to live safely on their own. Devonshire in Waverly Heights is a licensed personal care home specializing in meeting the individual needs of people with memory loss. Residents of Devonshire benefit from a fully structured day while receiving assistance with activities of daily living and medication management.

“As has happened nationally, we are no longer seeing the demand for qualified nurses that we once saw. Hospitals are not sending rehab patients to nursing homes as they did in the past. We made strategic decisions to stay ahead of the curve and meet the needs of seniors in our community,” said Thomas Garvin, President and CEO of Waverly Heights.

Waverly has hired C. Raymond Davis & Sons, Inc. as the general contractor for the project, which is expected to be completed in the summer of 2022. The company has been used in previous additions and renovations to the health care center in 2013.
