These beauty products help to take better care of your hair, scalp

Did you know that our scalp ages six times faster than our skin? Like the skin on our face, the scalp ages and changes with age. Additionally, the scalp is more susceptible to bacteria growth due to its lower barrier function. Over time, improper scalp care affects scalp health and can lead to scalp problems such as dandruff and even hair loss.

Why do we religiously follow a six-step beauty regimen (cleanse, exfoliate, tone, fortify, hydrate, conceal) but don’t give our scalp the same level of care? With 100,000 hair follicles on our scalp, it is beneficial for us to take better care of our hair and scalp. Here are seven tips to give your scalp and hair the care they need. Yahoo Shopping found a list of hair and scalp products with thousands (a few tens and thousands) of great reviews so you can have beautiful, shiny hair. It was nothing!

Our editorial team is dedicated to finding and telling you more about the products and deals we love. If you also like them and decide to purchase through the links below, we may receive a commission. Prices were correct at time of publication.

Tip 1: exfoliate

Similar to our skin, our scalp also requires exfoliation due to product buildup. Since the scalp is where our hair grows from, it only makes sense that we get to its root cause (pun intended). Maintaining a clean and healthy scalp can, in turn, lead to a head of shiny, healthy hair. Only then can the natural oils produced by our scalp keep the hair and scalp nourished and enable healthy hair growth. Try using your fingertips (note: not fingernails) to massage in circular motions as you shampoo. Target to exfoliate once or twice a week.

Pro Tip: Use before and after every shampoo to loosen debris.

Tip 2: Say no to all the bad guys

GMOs, SLS, parabens, alcohols and fragrances are bad for our scalp and hair health – period. Do yourself a favor and take a minute to study the ingredient lists before adding products to the cart.

Tip 4: Treated hair requires TLC

Although we are aware of the detrimental effects of dyeing and perming on our hair and scalp, it can be difficult for first-worlders like us to avoid treating ourselves to a different look every now and then. Instead, prevent further damage by using restorative hair care products. Make your hair happy!

Tip 5: Give your scalp the sun care it needs

Most of us forget that the scalp is the same piece of skin on our face that covers and protects our head. We don’t hesitate to apply sunscreen to our skin, but do we do the same to protect our hair and scalp? Sun care is also vitally important for our scalp! Besides wearing a hat in the scorching sun and using UV umbrellas, did you know that you can also spray sunscreen on your hair to protect your scalp?

Tip 7: Get expert help

Similar to how we turn to beauty salons for a facial every month, why not consider a hair spa as well? Coulisse Heir, an avant-garde boutique, offers high-end hair and hair services in the heart of Orchard Road. As with the skin, each of our scalp conditions is different. Here you will get hair analysis, performance based hair services and scalp therapy. And if you’re looking for exclusivity, their high-end individual pod service will ensure a pampering session.

With 18 years in the beauty industry, we caught up with Coulisse Heir co-founder Selina Ong, an avid adventurer, hiker and traveler, about how to take care of our scalp even when we’re far away. the usual comforts of home.

“I use unscented baby wipes to gently wipe and clean my scalp every day when I go hiking. I would also wear a sombrero hat to protect my scalp from the weather while on a trek. I prefer to pleading my hair long to reduce the pressure on my scalp compared to tying a ponytail in. Once back in urban comfort, a double cleanse of my scalp and hair is in order.

Coulisse Heir is located at ION Orchard, #04-02.
