Murad Correct & Protect serum is a 2 in 1 wonder

II am this anyone who preaches needs to wear sunscreen everyone. Single. day, rain or shine. But even I can agree that when it comes to my face – arguably the most important part of the body to protect from the sun in terms of preserving your aesthetics and promoting safety – I tend to hesitate before applying any type of FPS. . What if this product clogs my pores? What if it looks weird on my skin? What if it smells bad and I can’t stop thinking about it? What if I was wrong and forgot what stage it was in the progress of skin care, was it for nothing? I went through product after product with my concerns in mind, trying to figure out what would protect me (especially more than, say, just a quick spray with an SPF spray), while not wreaking havoc on my skin.

For context, I have a medium, olive-toned, somewhat reactive skin tone, and deal with adult acne (fun!). My goal with face sunscreen is two-fold: to protect my skin and make me look good (i.e., don’t break out or make me look like a ghost), you know? Well it turns out that Murad Is to know. The brand just released one of the best products I’ve used in a long time (and I’ve covered this beauty industry for over a decade): Correct & Protect Broad Spectrum SPF Serumwhich is basically two products in one, and that’s pretty amazing.

As a serum, it nourishes and moisturizes the skin (it comes out in a very light consistency, remains silky smooth and, thanks to the beetroot extract in the formula, it absorbs quickly into the skin). And, as a sunscreen, it has an SPF of 45, is mineral-based, doesn’t leave white marks on the skin (although it looks as it will, due to its white color), and it includes carotenoid technology that reflects UV light.

When using sunscreen on your face, derms agree that applying a generous amount is ideal, which is key to keep in mind since most adults don’t wear enough sunscreen. (And don’t forget your neck!) For your face and neck, a good guideline to follow is to use an amount close to a small bean in your hand. “I would recommend about 1/3 to 1/2 teaspoon of sunscreen for your entire face and neck to ensure coverage. Or, the size of a single edamame bean up to a bean from Lima,” said a dermatologist. Libby Rhee, DOpreviously said Well+Good.

When I first tried the product (after shaking it and using the dropper applicator), I loved it straight away – there’s barely a scent, and for me, in the putting on your face for the day is ideal. But since I’ve been using it for a month, my skin is more radiant and luminous. Which makes sense, since that same carotenoid technology that reflects UV light apparently also acts as an antioxidant to brighten and reduce discoloration. And while $69 is by no means cheap for a skincare product, the two-in-one nature of this one is well worth it in my opinion.

Radiant, hydrated, protected and unified skin all day long? Win-win.
