BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) – “To perform on the court, we will also have to do everything off the court. “
Bills quarterback Josh Allen has pretty much summed up how teams need to approach this season in order to even have a season.
“We understand that there will be a lot of different obstacles this year that the teams have probably never faced, but I am confident with the guys we have in the locker room and our coaching staff that we are going to be headed into. the right direction, we’re going to get it right on and off the pitch and we’re going to be able to adapt and overcome whatever gets in our way, ”Allen said on a zoom call with reporters.
Things are very different at team facilities as players, coaches, staff and everyone else in the building must follow all safety protocols to stop the spread of COVID-19.
“I just want to thank Terry and Kim [Pegula] for allowing us to do what we are doing now. Everything has been first class and they have made as many adjustments as possible to the building and facilities. Everything has been going well so far, we just have to keep wearing masks and we have these little beeps that keep us six feet apart, ”Allen explained.
With all the risks involved in playing this season, many NFL players have decided to step down. So far, the Bills have had two players, defensive tackle Star Lotulelei and cornerback EJ Gaines.
“There is no hard feelings on our part. We’re gonna support these guys no matter what. We understand it’s not about messing around and it’s a moment like no one has seen before. It’s their decision, we still love them, we still support them and they will give us that support back too, ”Allen said.
So why did Allen decide to play this year?
“One I love this game, two I think it’s a great opportunity to give hope to this nation and allow them to see us come out and do what we do because we know Sunday is a day very special in the lives of a lot of people around the world, a lot of fans around the world, ”Allen explained.
“One is our job and two is my passion to play this game and there are obviously some things that we sacrifice and risk our health and what not to do that but at the same time we want to play football. are built and wired as soccer players and we want to play, so we’re going to do whatever it takes off the pitch to make sure we have a season. ”
