You can make some of the best meals with tomatoes. But do you know what else you can use those fresh (red) berries for? Skin care – it is an effective ingredient for skin care and helps in achieving clear skin. These berries are full of nutrients and can help heal the skin. Slightly acidic in nature, tomatoes contain potassium and vitamin C. Read on to learn about the benefits.

  • Say goodbye to oily skin: tomatoes help keep skin firmer and reduce oiliness. Rub the raw tomato on your skin. Leave it on for five minutes, then rinse.
  • Treat those open pores: Tomatoes can help shrink open pores and clear up blackheads. Take half a tomato and rub it on your skin. Allow the juice to saturate in the pores. Leave on for about 15 minutes before washing your face.
  • Say hello to clearer skin: I’ve seen great results with tomatoes – they act as an astringent – when used for skin detanning. Mix the pulp of a tomato with 2 teaspoons of fuller’s earth (multani mitti) and 1 teaspoon of mint paste. Apply to clean skin until the paste dries. Your skin will become clearer and tighter.
  • Tan easily: Tomatoes can be used to help reduce summer tan. Mash a tomato; mix the pulp with 1 teaspoon of honey. Massage until the skin absorbs this pulp. Leave it on the skin for about 15 minutes before washing it off with cold water. This will help remove the tan and reduce the dryness caused by the sun’s strong UV rays.
  • Reduce the Effects of Sunburn: Loaded with vitamins C and A, tomatoes help keep skin looking fresher and reduce sunburn. You can mix tomato juice with buttermilk. Apply this magical concoction to the skin and wait for it to be absorbed. Applying this paste will help soothe the skin if you have sunburn and reduce the heat on the surface of the skin. It also reduces redness caused by sunburn.
  • A natural toner: Most people don’t realize the importance of a toner in the life of their skin! Believe me, it’s more than essential. It keeps your skin supple and naturally hydrated. Mix the juice of a cucumber and a tomato. Strain this liquid and pour it into an airtight spray bottle. Spray this toner on your skin when you go indoors after outdoor activities. Let the skin soak up the lycopenes present in this vegetable. Your skin will look younger. This toner can be stored in the refrigerator for up to four days.
  • Exfoliate like a pro: I love fresh sugar scrubs, especially this one. Mix two whole lemons with the zest. Add 2 ice cubes, 20 mint leaves and 2 tomatoes to a blender. Now take 5 tablespoons of sugar. Mix into a concoction. Use this scrub on the face, neck and hands until the sugar grains have melted. This powerful tomato and sugar scrub can be used to naturally exfoliate, cleanse, detan and nourish the skin. Apply twice a week. Let tomatoes be at the top of your priority list, especially in skin care. The sooner you start using it, the better.
